About "Waiting For Bluebonnets"
Acutely aware of his diagnosis in September 2001 of life-threatening congestive heart failure, pastor and author Bob Lively prayed that he might live long enough to see the springtime return of the glorious bluebonnets to the landscape of his Texas Hill Country. He also decided to deal with his despair and fear in the way he knew best-by writing. Waiting for Bluebonnets is a father's tender offering to his adult daughter of a carefully crafted and emotionally provocative insight into the ordinary life lived fully, but imperfectly. These offerings are presented in the form of brief letters, each of which contains a vignette abounding with more meaning than first meets the reader's eye. These letters work in harmony to create a mosaic bearing the proclamation of one man's almost desperate need to tell his daughter of the redemptive power of love-God's love. The letters touch on a variety of topics, including doubt, loneliness, grace, salvation, Christmas, and Easter. This collection is intended for the adult reader who is willing to search for spiritual growth beyond easy answers and platitudes. An epilogue provides details of the author's dramatic recovery.
