What is a Healthy Church Member?

Thabiti M Anyabwile

$13.99

Hardback
Biblically and practically instructs church members in ways they can labor for the health of their church.

^^What Is a Healthy Church Member? takes its cue from Mark Dever's book What Is a Healthy Church?, which offered one definition of what a healthy church looks like biblically and historically. In this new work, pastor Thabiti Anyabwile attempts to answer the natural next question: "What does a healthy church member look like in the light of Scripture?"

^^God intends for us to play an active and vital part in the body of Christ, the local church. He wants us to experience the local church as a home more profoundly wonderful and meaningful than any other place on earth. He intends for his churches to be healthy places and for the members of those churches to be healthy as well. This book explains how membership in the local church can produce spiritual growth in its members and how each member can contribute to the growth and health of the whole.

Bless your church and yourself by being a healthy member
5 stars By Joel Radford, Dec 26 2012
Membership of an organisation can be difficult (think professional accreditation bodies) or all too easy (think McDonalds VIP customer). Some people think membership at a church should be in the 'easy' category. After all isn't the church there to serve you, just like McDonalds?

Anyabwile's book demonstrates that membership of a church requires diligence and commitment. He suggests ten marks of what a healthy church member looks like: expositional listener; biblical theologian; gospel saturated; converted; evangelist; committed; discipline seeker; growing disciple; humble follower; and prayer warrior.

Each mark has a short, easy to read chapter devoted to it. Firstly the mark under discussion is defined and then a case made for including it on the list. Then practical advice is usually given on how to cultivate the mark. An added bonus is that each chapter ends with some recommended reading on the mark, in case your stomach is growling for more.

Do you want to be like Christ and serve yourself and others through at a local church? Meditate on Anyabwile's wise counsel and you and your church will reap the benefits.

A Must Read!
5 stars By T.L R, Jul 24 2008
Don't let the size of this little book fool you. This timely work is just full of helpful and pratical considerations for every Christian who is seeking to not only be part of a healthy church, but also equips one to begin to experience what it is like to be a joyful healthy church member themselves. In order to help the readers think clearly through many of the issues surounding church membership Thabiti Anyabwile makes this task easy by building the book around 10 essenial "Marks"- one for every chapter. Each chapter draws upon other well known Christian authors such as D.A. Carson, Wayne Grudem, Mark Dever and many others, making this book a rich sourse of information fillied with gems and insights of others both from theological and pastoral perspectives. Apart from recomending this book to every christian I know, I also intend using this great book as the basis for homegroup bible studies within our local congregaton. Anyone who buys and reads this book will certianlly not be disappointed.
