Wilbur Lingle received a B.A. and M.A. from Bob Jones University and was a missionary in Japan for 35 years. In 1989 he started Love to Share Ministries; one of its purposes was to inform people about the Watchtower organization. From his in-depth study of the Watchtower Society, he has a desire to make available much little-known information about the Jehovah's Witnesses, so that those both inside and outside the organization will have a clear understanding of the history and true nature of this group.

- Publisher Wilbur Lingle puts into layman's language his many years of documented research about the inner workings of the society. Here is a true picture of what goes on behind the walls of the Kingdom Halls, a clear image of truth that the Watchtower Society doesn't want you to know.

A behind-the-scenes introduction to the world's most famous door knockers
3 stars By Scott Monk, Nov 16 2012
Former Jehovah's Witnesses would make great employees for the renovation section of a Bunnings store. They already know first-hand the structural integrity of every door...slammed in their face, of course. But what drives ordinary people to sign up to a religion that involves a life of knocking and knock backs?

Christian missionary Wilbur Lingle sticks his foot in the door of this religion and gently takes readers inside its core beliefs. He covers topics such as: the history of its leadership, the failed prophecies, weaknesses of their bible translation, their strange belief that Jesus is Michael the archangel and why Armageddon isn't as pleasant as members expect. He also uncovers little nuggets like "double dipping" by central headquarters. The Watchtower Society not only asks Witnesses to pay for the magazines that they push on householders, but it also asks that any money raised be donated back to the society.

Lingle writes respectively with more than the inquiring Christian in mind. It's clear he's also targeting Witnesses, citing their own bible and publications, which record decades of flip-flopping decrees supposedly exclusively revealed to headquarters by their god, who has nothing to do with the real one.

Easily digestible, this book could have been strengthened by publishing interviews with ex-members. The last few chapters contain a mashed together testimony of five people that doesn't work, and instead would have been more powerful if left in their own words.

A good three-and-a-half-star primer to springboard into meatier works.
