- Koorong

For many churches today, music has become one of the most important factors in attempting to reach unbelievers with the gospel. Writing from his own personal experience as a former worship leader, Dan Lucarini questions the use of contemporary music in the worship of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Writing from his own personal experience as a former worship leader, Dan Lucarini questions the use of contemporary music in the worship of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and shows why he believes many churches have been deceived into using ever increasing worldly means to 'reach their lost'. He has seen at first hand how an emphasis on music, and the ultimate move towards rock music in particular, has caused divisions in the church, and turned the emphasis in worship away from the Lord towards ourselves.

Fantastic book
5 stars By Stephen, Apr 28 2007
Dan Lucarini sang and played in rock bands from the age of 13, was a song-writer, studied music at tertiary level and went on to become a successful "worship leader" at several large evangelical churches in USA. Criticism of his "CCM" drove him to search the Bible for principles and examples that would support use of CCM in the church. Instead, he found the opposite....
Why has this book been such a bestseller, going through 18 printings from 2002 to 2006? Some great things about this book are:
1. Qualifications: Dan's professional knowledge and personal experience of rock/pop secular and Christian.
2. Content: balance of personal testimony and Bible exposition.
3. Clarity: he pinpoints the features and effects of pop/rock music, showing how and why using in the church is harmful and wrong.
4. Relevance: each argument used by Christians to defend CCM is met head on and refuted.
5. Readability: Lucarini makes his points in a direct, concise way, without labouring the points or using lofty language.
6. Spirit: Written with humility, graciousness and a real pastoral concern.
7. Practical: the last two chapters give principles and guidelines for churches wanting to glorify God in their singing.
All round, a fantastic book!
