Richard Dawkins recently claimed that 'no theologian has ever produced a satisfactory response to his arguments'. Well-known broadcaster and author Keith Ward is one of Britain's foremost philosopher- theologians. This is his response.

^Ward welcomes all comers into philosophy's world of clear definitions, sharp arguments, and diverse conclusions. But when Dawkins enters this world, his passion tends to get the better of him, and he descends into stereotyping, pastiche, and mockery. In this stimulating and thought-provoking philosophical challenge, Ward demonstrates not only how Dawkins' arguments are flawed, but that a perfectly rational case can be made that there, almost certainly, is a God.

The infamous Professor Dawkins has presented several 'arguments' which, he claims, render belief in God impossible or - at least - irrational. He obstinately misunderstands natural selection only as an alternative to intelligent design. And, of course, God is too simple for Dawkins - too simple to explain the existence of such a complex world as ours. But how can something allegedly nonexistent be known to be simple? And what exactly would constitute an explanation of our world, anyway? Tackling these and other problems head on, Ward demonstrates not only that Dawkins' arguments are flawed, but that a perfectly rational case can be made that there is, almost certainly, a God.

Pronounced atheist Richard Dawkins has claimed that no theologian has ever produced a satisfactory response to his arguments that there most likely is not a God. In this open-minded and innovative philosophical challenge, theologian David Ward addresses Dawkins's various ideas with sharp, clear arguments. He points out that when Dawkins--a scientist--enters the world of philosophy and religion, his passion often leads his argumentation to descend into stereotyping, pastiche, and mockery. Stimulating and thought-provoking, this study both locates the flaws in Dawkins's arguments and makes a perfectly rational case for the existence of God.
