Paperback

Growing up as a PK (pastor's kid), Michael became disillusioned with church and left home to join the army. After a life-changing encounter with God, he left the military to become an evangelist and church-planter. His dissatisfaction with the church remained however, and as a young minister this discontent intensified. Finally, in desperation, Michael cried out, "God, I don't know what church is – but I know that this isn't it!" "Will the real church stand up" is both a journal chronicling the revelation received during this time of spiritual maturing, and a warning cry and encouragement for the church to change and become the bride of Christ. If, like Michael, you have looked around at the church over the years and have agonized over her condition, then this could be a life and ministry changing read. Not intended for the faint hearted or spiritually insecure, "Will the real church stand up", will challenge your personal, social and cultural conclusions on the nature and purpose of the Church of Jesus Christ for His glory.

A Trumpet Call
5 stars By Travis Blakiston, Jul 24 2008
The message of this book is no doubt challenging. It calls us to be honest and to seriously consider who the Church is called to be.

Like it or not the Apostle Paul calls us, the Church to no longer be conformed to the pattern of this world but rather to be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ through the renewing of our minds. Jesus reveals that the there is no other way that this renewal can take place than through the preaching and teaching of the Christ and Him crucified and through God seeking prayer. The message of Christ and Him crucified in this book does not mess around and paint fanciful images of a Church with no problems or a church that is loved by the world around it but rather it is a trumpet call to a modern day spiritual Israel that her walls may be weak and crumbling and its rooms may contain spiritual prostitutes and Pharisees.

I am not sure about you but can we continue to go about proclaiming all the 'good things we have done'? I don't want us to hear Jesus say away from me I never knew you!? This book is a trumpet call by a watchman whose heart cry is that we who call ourselves the Church will truly know God and therefore know what it is for God to be glorified in His Church.

Challenging and inspiring.
5 stars By Andrew Belbin, Jun 02 2008
God's eternal purpose has always been to call a people for Himself, that would be transformed into His image and display His glory to the powers and principalities.

As you look at the church down through the ages you can see time and time again where this plan has been distorted by those calling themselves His people, by those who call themselves disciples of Christ, or Children of God or "Kings Kid's". Those who treat God as some kind of divine vending machine, put in the right currency whether it be enthusiastic demanding prayer, exclamations of faith or a generous 10% tithe, and out come the desires of the supplicants heart.
Time and time again you can see where those that declare themselves to be 'God's people' are in truth 'their own people' using God as a useful tool to achieve their own desires.

Thanks be to God that His purpose has always remained the same, and His true message always breaks through the hypocrisy to reveal freedom and grace to those that are called by His name.

I believe that this book contains such a message. Read it with an open mind and a prayerful heart. Prepare to be challenged and hopefully to have your thinking renewed concerning what God says His church should be. Not what man has made it.

Inspiring, challenging and hope-giving read
5 stars By P Michel, May 30 2008
This book is groundbreaking in that it reveals to those who want to see that what we call church either puts the traditions of men before God's word or is a chameleon trying to impress the world by fitting in. Jesus did neither. He came to reveal who God is, apart from traditions or contemporary trends. He was not afraid to offend entrenched beliefs when they stood in the way of God's revelation of Himself.

Will the real church stand up is an honest appeal to the bride of Christ to become what she is called to be, a pure and virgin bride ready for the return of the bridegroom. For those seeking direction and clarity in the midst of many confusing and confused voices and directives, you cannot go past this book.

Many people have given up on church because of what they have experienced. Michael Fewson's faith is revealed in a search for what God desires church to be despite bad experiences and in the revelation he has received. His commitment to the body of Christ is inspiring and challenges all who have turned away or sought to make church fit their own desires and will, to rethink their stance and work out their salvation with fear and trembling. For those who desire whatever God in his wisdom has provided, this is a hope- filled book pointing the way and humbly encouraging a continued search for revelation.
