Beautiful
4 stars By Brooke, Oct 06 2015
I love this series by Lori Wick. I especially love the ways all the stories are connected and the way the characters from the first book are in this one too. The romance is beautiful, the characters likeable and the story is well written. I highly recommend it.

Wings of the Morning
5 stars By Lindy Anning, Sep 15 2012
Wings of the Morning is the second book in Lori Wick's four-book Kensington Chronicles series.

This book is an adventure story set on the high seas during Victorian times. It follows the story of Smokey (Victoria Simmons), renowned captain of The Aramis, the fastest and most successful trade ships in Maine, USA.

Smokey's life is a lonely one, however, and her life on a ship has not prepared her for life in society. She is a bundled of nerves in public and embarrasses herself in front of others, especially handsome rival captain Dallas Knight.

Smokey soon returns to the solace of sailing, however Captain Knight requests passage on her ship, and she finds that captains make terrible crewmen. Then a storm hits, the ship needs repairs and Smokey and Dallas begin to find themselves drawn towards each other ..... and an unknown danger in the form of infamous pirate Haamich Wynn, who has a desire to own both The Aramis and its beautiful captain, Smokey.

This is another compelling story of a clever, capable, yet oddly vulnerable young woman who is seeking to find a way to balance the demands of a successful career with the desires of her heart, and who ultimately finds herself needing to trust others in order to find happiness.

This female lead character is one of my favourites, with her wit, sense of humour, and quiet competence. Wick again crafts a novel that you will not be able to put down, and again weaves more than one love story into this captivating book. This series is definitely one of her best!
