Really good for quiet time
5 stars By Liana, Nov 07 2017
This is an instrumental album for a few of the songs from Bethel music but there are new instrumental songs in it as well. They have also added a few melody variations for some of their old songs which is nice.
I listen to this album when I am having my quiet time, doing my assignments or tasks that requires concentration.
My overall impression of this album is really good. It has a mix of different tempo songs which keeps the whole album engaging.
I would definitely recommend this to people who loves music but gets easily distracted by music (i.e. Singing along) when doing a task as it is in an instrumental.

Wonderful and mystifying
5 stars By Emily, Apr 30 2017
Although this album has no words, it is powerful and enjoyable music. I love to listen to it whilst studying, writing essays and working because there are no words to disrupt my mind. The combination of synth, percussion, guitar, drums and strings is simply magnificent, and I never get bored of this music. This is the first kind of worship music I have heard of, in which it is entirely non-lyrical. I believe this sort of instrumental experimentation is revolutionary, as we are challenging the notion of Christian Contemporary music, and Christian music as a whole. Sometimes, to reach the core of a person's heart and to unleash a spirit inside of someone, we don't always require words. As one of my favourite quotes reads, 'Where words fail, music speaks' (Hans Christian Anderson). And not only this, there are numerous verses in the Bible which point towards having a pure mouth, keeping silent in the midst of noise, and holding your tongue. For instance, 'The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools' (Ecclesiastes 9:17).

Review of "Without Words"
4 stars By Timothy Yap, Aug 23 2015
Our appreciation quotient of Bethel Music's latest instrumental album is directly proportional to how well we know the portfolio of the church worship team. If you have never picked up any of their last four albums, listening to this album may sound like muzak to you. This is because the swirling synth and glowing strings have a way of sweeping over us meshing all the songs together that you can't tell when one song ends and when the other begins. If you are not familiar with Bethel Music's recent catalog, the best to start is by purchasing their regular non-instrumental offerings. However, if you are familiar with their recent worship staples, this CD is a treasure trove. It will provide for us more than an hour of gorgeous soundtrack to own personal worship. Many of these songs will evoke in our mind the rich images and words associated with these paeans as we sing and meditate quietly along.

"Without Words: Synesthesia" is the second installation in Bethel Music's canon of instrumental music. While the first project "Without Words" has a more organic sound, this sophomore effort incorporates more electronic elements and ethereal vocal layering
