Many Christian women find great encouragement and joy in and through women's Bible studies. However, popular Bible teacher Jen Wilkin is concerned that sometimes we let our emotions rule our study of Scripture and forget that the Bible is primarily about God, not us. Challenging hungry women to go deeper in their study of Scripture, this book will help you refocus your efforts on feeding your mind first and foremost. Whether you're young or old, married or single, this accessible volume will energize and equip you for Bible study aimed at transforming both the heart' and' mind.

Really understand the Bible for yourself
5 stars By Amy Darragh, Sep 05 2017
I loved this book and how it taught me to learn more about my Bible. This book is not just for women, it is for men too. Jen's advice on how to study the Bible is not for the faint hearted. This book will teach you how to pull apart each Bible book, learn how it is structured, what it means and how to apply it to your life. I loved reading this book. I loved getting the chance to apply what I learned in real life. This would be an amazing book to read with a Bible study group and then as a group use Jen's process on a book of the Bible. The downside to Jen's Bible study method is that it does take a long time to follow the process and really get the most out of the Bible. I would strongly recommend you try a very short book in the Bible to try out this study method for your first test run. If you don't buy this book today, add it to your wishlist.

"One spoonful at a time."
5 stars By Tracy Newport, Feb 11 2016
Jen Wilkin writes, "Finding greater pleasure in God will not result from pursuing more experiences of him, but from knowing him better." Hence the need to study his Word, his Story, the Bible.

Women of the Word starts by describing the attitudes you should carry into Bible study - purpose, perspective, and patience. Jen Wilkin then outlines a process of study, which is the inductive study method - comprehension, interpretation, and application. She covers the importance of prayer, then sums up her methodology in the "Pulling It All Together" chapter, which runs through an bible study exercise. There is a useful chapter for bible study teachers and an amusing chapter titled "The Case for Bible Literacy" which describes a number of unhelpful approaches to Bible study that the author has encountered in her many years of teaching women.

This book outlines a practical approach to Bible study in an easy to understand manner, and at 158 pages it's a quick read.

An all in one study guide!
5 stars By Amber, Jan 15 2015
This book offers practical advice on how to study the bible and improve your bible literacy. Jen Wilkin uses five key points: study with purpose, perspective, patience, process and prayer and teaches you how to put these points into action. Also a bonus- it's not very long!
