This is a fabulous book! An enthralling adventure with plenty of food for thought as the characters face challenges and life lessons. Lynn Austin's characterisation is exceptional. Highly recommended.
I am a HUGE fan of Lynn Austin books ever since I was introduced to her novels I have not been able to get enough. I was initially annoyed at the main character of this book and her lack of maturity. But as the story was masterfully woven I found myself wanting to know MORE!! Without giving away the plot or spoiling it for you. I can say you"ll find yourself falling in love with each character. I love how each Lynn Austin book contains God's truth and love and forgiveness and grace and much more.... Enjoy
Alice makes me laugh out loud (similar to the humor of Austin's "Proper Pursuit"). This is such a feel good, exciting novel. As is typical with Lynn Austin books, I learned a few historical tid-bits and was swept away on a beautiful journey.
Any book by Lynn Austin is a book worth reading and this is one of my all-time favourites. Austin manages to mix genuine history, wild imagination and real-life questions about prayer and faith in an outrageous tale that somehow seems so very realistic when composed by her magic pen. I love the fact that I can relate and learn so much from the characters while still being thoroughly delighted and entertained by a wonderfully written storyline. Buy this book! You won't be disappointed.
I love reading! I would shirk my duties as a stay-home-mum if I had a good book to read. I love loosing myself in the plot of a well written story and exciting dialogue. This was one of those kind of books. I love the story of Wonderland Creek, because I could so relate to the main character Alice and her love for reading. I laughed at Alice's quirky thoughts about this strange world where she had landed and how she adapted and learned to fit in. I finished the book and and felt like starting over and read it again. Another thing I love about a book like this is the glimpse of history that it gives me; making me interested in finding out more about it. The idea of pack horse librarians is amazing. We need more great ideas like this from governments in time of depressions and recessions. All round a excellent read and definitely on my favourites list.
