Small but presentable book to keep or give away
5 stars By Ling, May 16 2017
Stumbled upon this book in the store and thought it's a book of its kind as it teaches a child that shehe is special... And that's something that i don't mention to my child at all! I guess it's easy to take it for granted that a child is unique and I use this book to remind my child and myself that we are all very special. I've also bought this book as a gift for my friends' kids who are not Christians. The book doesn't mention God explicitly and I think that it serves as a good platform to introduce God subtly. :)

Perfect for young kids
5 stars By Hannah, Sep 19 2016
If you're looking for a great gift for a baby shower or young child's birthday, this would definitely fit the bill. Rhyming and with beautiful pictures throughout, it goes through all the reasons why a child is special - from their fingers and toes and what they like doing (even if t's different to their friends) to the fact tat they're still cherished even when they are naughty. Best of all, it finishes with a mirror, so the child can see themselves and know that they personally are special and cherished. A beautiful concept presented in a board book perfect for little hands and their parents.

Inclusive
5 stars By Julie, Feb 06 2016
You are Very Special is a lovely little board book with dear illustrations suitable for children over 12 months. However, it could be well read by an adult to a child before that age. The concept of a child looking in a mirror to discover how special they are is not new but still delightful. The book has the added bonus of including family and friends as special too, which is a great concept to instill from tiny. Highly recommended.

'The mirror book'
4 stars By Michelle, Dec 09 2014
My toddler loves this book mainly for its back page, yes the 'mirror' page - so much so he calls this the mirror book! My boy has the tendency to request that I jump to the last page even at the very start, so that's my 'problem' with the book! After closing his eyes just like the little girl and the cat, he beams broadly to see his own reflection, and will then insist on me having a look in the mirror too.

Most of the rhymes on the various pages are very catchy and rolls off the tongue, though I have to admit there's one or two pages where it flows less well - but that's a minor point. The illustrations are fantastic!

There is something absolutely delightful to a little child to see their own image - and something profoundly meaningful about it when the book talks about the uniqueness of each human being created in God's image.
