Her mother abandoned her, her father disowned her, and her husband left her. Can Brooklyn be convinced that it is possible to forgive the greatest of betrayals?

Brooklyn Myers escaped her broken home and her embittered, unloving father by eloping to Reno at the age of 17. But when she was pregnant with their first child, her husband abandoned her as well. Not welcome back home in Thunder Creek, Brooklyn stayed in Reno and raised her daughter Alycia on her own, doing her best to make sure Alycia never knew the heartache and rejection Brooklyn herself had known.

When her estranged husband Chad Hallston dies, he leaves the family home in Thunder Creek to his daughter. Believing it is the best way to give her daughter a stable home, Brooklyn does what she thought she would never do. She goes home to the orchard and wine country of Southwest Idaho. There, she encounters Chad's best friend, Derek Johnson, a part time sheriff's deputy who also owns an organic produce farm next door. Derek was never a fan of former bad girl Brooklyn Myers, but he made a promise to his dying friend that he would be the father to Alycia that Chad had never been.

Although Derek and Brooklyn get off to a bumpy start, he and Alycia quickly form a bond. And soon, Derek realizes that he wants Brooklyn to trust him too ... even knowing that her trust won't come easily. And then he realizes he wants even more than her trust. He wants to win her love.

While Brooklyn may be tempted to give her heart to Derek, risking her daughter's happiness is another story. Will Brooklyn hold onto her self-reliance for dear life, or will she come to understand that the greatest gift she can give her daughter is showing her how to love and trust others?

Sweet Read
3 stars By Rochelle, NSW, Nov 24 2017
An enjoyable story of youthful decisions, consequences, life and provision.
Brooklyn Myers and her daughter, Alycia, return to Thunder Creek when her estranged husband Chad leaves them his family home.
Derek Johnson, Chads best friend isn't looking forward to their return as it ruins his dream to purchase Chads land. On top of that is Chad's dying request that Derek become the father to Alycia that he never was! How can he do that without spending time with Brooklyn as well?

Dreams and expectations are going to collide. Misconceptions and trust are also needing to be overcome.

Can the future be something wonderful for both of them?

Enjoy!

Great Christian romance
5 stars By Iola, Jul 29 2017
Eighteen-year-old Brooklyn Myers left her home town of Thunder Creek, Idaho, to marry Chad Hallston-who left her just months later, when she announced she was pregnant. She's spent the last ten years trying to raise Alycia on her own, with the help of the neighbour who introduced her to a loving God

Now Esther, her babysitter and best friend, is leaving town and Brooklyn has no idea how she'll juggle working with caring for Alycia. Until she finds Chad is dead, and she's been left the Hallston property back in Thunder Creek.

Derek Johnston is looking forward to buying the ten-acre Hallston property from Chad, to expand his organic farm. He isn't pleased when he finds Chad, his best friend, is dead and has left the land and house to Brooklyn. To complicate matters, Chad has also asked that Derek be the father Chad never was ...

I loved all the characters, even while they struggled to love themselves and each other. I loved the developing relationships, the witty dialogue. I also loved the way Brooklyn's Christian faith was woven into the story.

A great story of love and second chances. Recommended for contemporary romance fans.
